Poe Scurried Off to The Other Side

An interesting caregiving fact about LGCR is that approximately sixty percent of our small residents are treated daily for heart disease. Any unusual changes in breathing or inability to 'get comfortable'- require immediate staff attention.
CHF is a common condition in dogs, affecting about 10%. It is often caused by valvular insufficiency, leading to symptoms like coughing and difficulty breathing. Early detection is crucial, as it can significantly impact a dog's life expectancy.
If CHF is caught early, the prognosis can be good, and dogs can live anywhere from 6 months to 2 years after being diagnosed. Though Lily and Poe did not have the luxury of early detection and treatment, your companion can by having annual wellness exams.
Thank you to all who shared compassionate time with Poe and his beloved sister Lily.
