Suni: Lifesaving Hysterectomy

Suni, Age 14. Senior2Senior FF Program

Pyometra is a serious and life-threatening infection in the uterus. The condition must be treated quickly and aggressively. It is most common in older, unspayed dogs. Hormones cause the uterine lining to thicken, and this becomes more pronounced with age. This abnormal lining is prone to infection.

Suni’s Ovariohysterectomy Histopathology

The uterus was filled with infection pyometra, and Suni recovered without incident. Happy to be back home in her Senior2Senior foster parents’ arms. We await final pathology reports on her ovaries.
