Khalesie's Abdominal Surgery

Initially, we suspected Khalesie might have a urinary tract infection because of her bedwetting. However, we proceeded with X-ray imaging when her urinalysis results returned negative. The X-rays revealed three large intestinal masses that had begun to liquefy, making surgical intervention necessary to determine if they were cancerous or benign.

Great news: All tumors were removed and biopsied as leiomyomas.

A leiomyoma is a benign tumor arising from involuntary smooth muscle cells. It is most frequently found in the digestive tract, particularly within the muscular walls of the stomach and intestines, where it can interfere with normal function. However, leiomyomas can also develop in the uterus of female dogs, presenting unique health challenges. Fortunately, dogs diagnosed with leiomyoma usually experience a positive outcome. This effective treatment helps restore their health and quality of life.
