Have you ever wondered about Duke's journey story? We have two facts and a few educated guesses. Facts #1 & 2: Duke and Duchess came to the ranch as short-term guests in the summer of 2023 after being abandoned in a Burnet County cemetery. Within a few weeks, the Humane Society in Marble Falls signaled they finally had space available. Yet, they had become LGCR family and had shown signs of thriving from human kindness. The thought of taking the Duke and Duchess to the shelter, knowing that they would be euthanized within a week, went against all of LGCR's animal welfare values.

Educated guesses are derived from the physical appearance and temperament of dogs, including each other. Based on the hundreds of scars, we strongly suspect that Duke and Duchess were subjected to dog fighting. Duke and Duchess are forever home until their final breath of feeling unconditional love.
