Where Love Resides

Since 2020, Living Grace Canine Ranch, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, has been tirelessly serving Texas’ underserved animal population. This population, often at the highest risk of early life termination, abandonment, and animal cruelty, is adoption-disadvantaged senior dogs. These dogs, with their unique needs and the importance of their lives, are the focus of our mission. We aim to inspire empathy and understanding by highlighting their unique societal value. Our work provides hope, health, and end-of-life stage joy-filled memories.

LGCR's vision is a Texas that values an old life as worthy of medical caregiving and Life itself. LGCR's executes its mission of saving, serving, and protecting advanced-aged dogs in five ways:

•         #LiveLongLiveWell Program

•         A Senior Dog Assisted Living Sanctuary (The Bertram Ranch)

•         Senior2Senior Companionship Program

•         Project Rural Roadside Rescue

•         #Let’s Shake Paws Program (Socioeconomic career pathways supporting marginalized people).

LGCR provides twenty-four-hour skilled caregiving under the supervision of LGCR's medical director, Matthew Lang, DVM, at Liberty Hill Animal Hospital to over one hundred seniors of all breeds. Upon intake, seventy-six percent are medically diagnosed with three or more life-quality conditions.

For some, we prevent life-limiting conditions; for most, we slow down a disease's progression; and all will enter our hospice program to be comforted until their final breath on average in four hundred and nine days.

Community Impact

LGCR's community impact is extensive in breadth and depth. In 2020, LGCR painted an innovative, bold vision for Texas senior dog welfare, not dependent on the traditional shelter adoption model but rather one that lifts old dogs to life-stage appropriate health and provides a pathway for traditional human companionship as forever fosters our community's high at risk for loneliness and depression populations such as senior citizens and veterans. This vision has profoundly impacted our community, inspiring hope and compassion and motivating us to do more.

Forty-five percent of LGCR's one hundred ten residents live off-site, happy, age-appropriate-healthy, and forever home. How do we measure the impact of LGCR's #LiveLongLiveWell and Senior-2-Senior Companionship Program? LGCR's twirling golden-tipped tails and sparkling senior citizen eyes.
