There was a time when Remy and Luna’s days were built around motion. One can imagine them moving through open fields with purpose and focus, working side by side in the kind of partnership that forms when two companions share both the task and the pace required to complete it.
Whatever their earlier life asked of them, it is clear they learned to move through it together. Years of shared movement created an unspoken understanding between them — the quiet rhythm that develops when one companion instinctively reads the other’s stride.
Today, that rhythm has changed.
Luna, now twelve, moves a little more slowly than she once did, and Remy — two years younger — has naturally adjusted to her pace. Where Luna walks, Remy follows. When Luna pauses to rest, Remy settles beside her. Their connection remains steady and unmistakable.
When Remy and Luna first came to the attention of Living Grace Canine Ranch, it was through our veterinary partner. Their guardian had contacted the clinic requesting euthanasia.
It was Remy’s name that had been given for the appointment.
Moments like these remind us that vulnerability does not always follow age. Circumstances, health challenges, and changing life conditions can quickly reshape what the future looks like for an aging companion.
What never changed, however, was the bond between them.
Today at LGCR, Remy and Luna continue to live as they always have — side by side. They move together across the grounds, rest close to one another, and share the quiet companionship that only years of living together can create.
Their care now reflects the needs that come with advancing age. At LGCR, they receive attentive senior caregiving, including thoughtful veterinary oversight, mobility support, and a peaceful environment where their days can unfold at a gentler pace.
Here, their purpose is no longer measured by the work they once performed.
It is measured by presence.
