Boarding Resources for Paralyzed and Mobility-Challenged Canine Companions in Central Texas
When you're the devoted parent of a mobility-challenged dog — especially when finding trustworthy boarding options for a wheelchair-challenged dog — you're not just looking for a kennel. You're seeking caretakers who understand medical routines, mobility aids, and the emotional needs of a dog whose life hasn't been easy.
At Living Grace Canine Ranch, we understand the love and labor required to care for a partially paralyzed or mobility-challenged companion. We also know that caregivers occasionally need rest, travel flexibility, or time for medical recovery — and that shouldn't mean compromising your companion's care.
Although LGCR is not formally connected to the businesses listed, we've gathered these options to support families navigating the unique challenges of boarding companions with special needs.

Alternative Options: In-Home Boarding & Private Sitters
For dogs who thrive in one-on-one environments, consider in-home boarding through:
• Rover.com – Some sitters specialize in senior or special-needs dogs.
• Local Facebook Groups – Many experienced pet caregivers offer at-home support, including bladder expression and gentle handling.
What to Ask Before Booking
• Do you have experience with paralyzed or wheelchair-using dogs?
• Can you assist with daily bladder expression or medication?
• Is your property fully accessible and safely enclosed?
• Will my dog receive 1:1 attention or supervision overnight?
While facilities may offer physical care, what transforms a life is love. At Living Grace Canine Ranch, we’ve seen firsthand how mobility challenges don’t define worth — and how dignity, trust, and a little support can restore hope.
Meet three of our own resilient residents whose stories speak louder than wheels, wounds, or weight.

Mugsy's Story: Rolling Toward Redemption
Don't let Mugsy's wheels fool you — this little guy is a force of heart and humor. Paralyzed from a spinal injury and left to navigate the world alone, Mugsy arrived at the Ranch needing both a wheelchair and daily bladder expression. But he also needed something deeper: reassurance that his life still had meaning.

With time, trust, and expert caregiving, Mugsy transformed from withdrawn to unstoppable. His custom-fit wheels gave him independence and the confidence boost needed to live successfully in a traditional home environment.
Today, Mugsy lives in Canada, and his BFF is a little child who shares the special needs that only devoted, loving parents can provide.
"At LGCR, we don’t just rehabilitate dogs. We restore hope — one step, one soul at a time." ~ Rhonda Minardi, LGCR Founder
Eva's Story: Grace in the Gait
Eva, a stunning German Shepherd, came to Living Grace Canine Ranch with more

than physical wounds — she bore the emotional weight of abandonment and trauma. Following a devastating accident, Eva required amputation of a hind leg and her tail. During recovery, volunteers supported her with a mobility harness, gently guiding her steps and rebuilding her confidence with every stride.
What Eva lost in limbs, she gained in strength. For the remainder of her Life journey, she navigated the world with grace, dignity, and a loyal community cheering her on.

Dolly's Story: Lifted by Love
When Dolly arrived at Living Grace Canine Ranch, she was morbidly obese and unable to walk on her own. But her spirit? Undimmed.
Pictured here are two dedicated Ranch Pals gently hoisting Dolly into position for her first hydrotherapy session — a critical step in her journey toward mobility and wellness. Using two harnesses and a whole lot of gentle encouragement, Dolly's support team helped her relearn how to move, one assisted step at a time.
At LGCR, we believe recovery comes in many forms — sometimes with wheels, sometimes with water, always with grace. Here's our takeaway for living with and loving senior dogs:
Mobility isn’t about speed. It’s about moving forward, surrounded by love.
Every Dog Deserves a Safe Place — Especially When Life Gets Hard
At Living Grace Canine Ranch, our mission is to serve senior and special-needs dogs who are too often overlooked — offering not just shelter, but dignity, purpose, and love. That commitment extends to pet parents navigating the challenges of caring for a paralyzed or differently-abled companion.
We hope this guide gives you peace of mind and practical support.
Because every dog — whether they roll, hop, or lean on us for strength — deserves to be met with compassion.
If LGCR's mission resonates with your heart, we invite you to join us in continuing our life-saving work. Your gift ensures no dog walks alone. Not in fear, not in pain, and never in their final chapter.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
